<p class="MsoNormal">The ArchivesSpace Governance Board is <b>seeking nominations to fill two vacancies on the ArchivesSpace User Advisory Council (UAC).</b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Nominees should be presently employed at an ArchivesSpace member institution in the
<b>"Very Small" and “Very Large categories”</b> (please refer to the categorized member list at: <a href="http://www.archivesspace.org/members">http://www.archivesspace.org/members</a>). Nominees should be experienced with some of the activities projected
for UAC and be capable of participating on a regular basis throughout the term of service of December 1, 2016-June 30, 2018. The appointee will be eligible to have her/his appointment renewed for an additional two-year term, i.e., July 1, 2018-June 30, 2020.
Appointees are expected to devote an average of two hours per week to UAC activities.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Only ArchivesSpace member representatives may submit a nomination. All other staff of ArchivesSpace member organizations may submit nominations through their Member Representative.
<b>All Member Representatives are strongly encouraged to consult with all interested colleagues within their organization.</b> Self-nominations are also welcome if you represent a Very Small or Very Large member institution.

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Nominations must be received by 9:00pm EDT Friday, November 11th, 2016.</b> They may be sent to ArchivesSpace Program Manager Bradley Westbrook (<a href="mailto:brad.westbrook@lyrasis.org">brad.westbrook@lyrasis.org</a>).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">UAC (<a href="http://www.archivesspace.org/usersadvisory">http://www.archivesspace.org/usersadvisory</a>) is a critical part of the ArchivesSpace community, serving as a communication conduit between ArchivesSpace governance groups and
ArchivesSpace users. It is also the group that implements and contributes to ArchivesSpace user services. Some of the activities UAC is currently engaged in are:

<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-family:Symbol">·</span><span style="font-size:7.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">
</span>liaising with national and regional archives organizations;<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-family:Symbol">·</span><span style="font-size:7.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">
</span>soliciting, suggesting, gathering requirements for, and prioritizing enhancements to the ArchivesSpace application;<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-family:Symbol">·</span><span style="font-size:7.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">
</span>maintaining and updating user documentation, as needed, of the ArchivesSpace application;<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-family:Symbol">·</span><span style="font-size:7.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">
</span>developing and providing training to users; and<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-family:Symbol">·</span><span style="font-size:7.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">
</span>advising the Governance Board and LYRASIS on the design and delivery of user services, including but not limited to help desk support, training, and presentation of documentation.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Sub-groups will be established within UAC to address the areas identified above, as well as other activities identified subsequently. Nominees will be appointed to UAC according to their ability to participate in and lead some of the activities
mentioned above.<o:p></o:p></p>
